 Frequently
Asked Questions
How does my purchase
benefit non-profit organizations?
A minimum of 10% of each item purchased goes to
charity.
How do I care
for my glass gift?
The items shouldn't require more than the
occasional dusting, but you may use glass
cleaner on the glass (spray the cloth,
not the glass) and a soft dry cloth on
the lead. If white wax shows, just wipe it with a
damp cloth/sponge.
Is the lead in the
glass items harmful?
This
lead is the same lead used for stained
glass windows. Exercise caution by
washing hands after handling.
Why don't you accept
credit cards?
The
less we have to spend on setting up the
site the more we can donate to worthy
causes. Most guests don't seem to mind mailing a check and we
appreciate that very much. Oh, and I cant seem to
force myself to figure it out.
Technophobe.
Do you offer a
quantity discount?
Yes. Just mail me
at Jill@ aNiceWorld.com. We'll work out something
great.
Can aNiceWorld help raise funds for our organization?
Probably. Please contact me and we'll discuss it.
How is the jewelry made?
With .999 fine silver
PMC. This is a technique whereby silver and gold
jewelry is crafted from precious metal clay. The
jewelry is strong, beautiful, and more pure.
Each design is made individually and no two will be
exactly alike.
Nice
History: My site aNiceWorld.com
(originally NiceGift.org) went live to the web
in October of 2002 when I made good on a promise to
myself to launch a great project by my birthday.
September 15. 33. Yes, a
little late, but there is a lot of truth to the phrase
"better late than never" - which is how long
it might have taken me to focus in on just one project had I
not read The Artist's Way by Julia
Cameron.
Nice
Concept. aNiceWorld.com was
born because I wanted to start a company with
the word "Nice" in the name and the Boomerang
as the logo, where 10% of every purchase
benefited a non-profit partner. I currently create all
the items for sale on the site: "Gifts so Nice they give twice." :)
Why
Web Based? A site
on the web enables almost unlimited latitude for
pursuing creative interests and making a difference
while doing so. There are so many cool aspects to
having a web site. This is my cybergallery, improv
stage, and wallet full of photos of my dog all in one.
It is also a place where I can potentially
reach kids (and adults) anywhere with a positive
message. Somehow the fact that it is public space
makes it even more fun.
Nice
Challenges. The biggest challenge with the
project is inadequate time to satisfy my inner freak
with a constant stream of updates, additions and changes. Figuring
out VISA and how to have a click-through email, also
challenging. :)
